Hi Matt,

Thanks for this - this seems to solve the problem properly and I didn't notice any negative performance issues in what we are doing with it.

Regards,
Ian

Hi Ian,

At Diamond we wanted this functionality so we made a patch which converts the data (on the UI thread) for the intensity graph. As this may negatively affect the performance, and doesn't use the new Java 8 unsigned type for the conversion, it isn't merged into CSS. You can see the discussion and pull request here:

https://github.com/ControlSystemStudio/cs-studio/issues/823

Thanks,
Matt

Subject: CSS Boy and Signed/Unsigned Int Issue

Hi all,

I am having a problem with a camera that uses unsigned 8-bit integers for its values, which get interpreted as -127 --> 128 instead of 0 --> 255 in CSS BOY.

I saw on a previous discussion there was a suggested workaround (http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/tech-talk/2014/msg00510.php), but this does not work for me due to some auto-normalisation scripts we are using, and this would also prevent choosing color maps.

I was just wondering if anyone had found a better solution to the issue? Trying to use a Python script to correct the values seems to be extremely slow.

Thanks,
Ian
