Our units are all the serial type, mostly as you say because of the cost of GPIB. I'm not familiar with any similar units, the DTM151's and the older DTM133's are what we use here.

They do WORK, they're just fiddly to get going with all the jumper settings. It's not made any simpler by our habit of stringing 3 or 4 of them together in a loop connected either by 4-wire copper or fiber cables with some odd HP connector on them, with a single serial terminal server connected to one unit that's the master and the others in the loop being slaves. And of course nothing communicates at all unless every single member of the loop is jumpered correctly...

Hi John,

We haven't ordered yet. Any thoughts about the GPIB version? My first
thought is to prefer the serial version to avoid the cost of a
GPIB/ethernet converter.

Also, would you recommend any similar device over the 151?

Thanks,
Michael

I've got a few of those with a very basic Stream protocol file, just
reading the field.

They're a little tricky to work with, you have to pull the bottom cover
off and shuffle around a bunch of jumpers to get the serial port working
properly.

Has anyone integrated a Digital Teslameter 151 from Group3?
