Hi YX Liang,

The easiest way to do this the first time is to use the sscan record - the documentation for this is here http://www.aps.anl.gov/bcda/synApps/sscan/sscanDoc.html.

In more detail you need to have a client that supports the Channel Access put_callback mechanism. This is the same as a normal channel access put, but only returns after all processing is finished (i.e. motor has finished moving or detector has finished exposing). If your detector is supported within areaDetector framework you have a bit more flexibility - if you use blocking callbacks to write the file the ca_put_callback will finish after the file is written, and if you use non-blocking callbacks ca_put_callback will finish at the end of the exposure, but before the file is written.

Cheers,

Subject: how to control in sequence

Hi everyone,

I could independently control two devices (motor and detector), I intend to make them action in some sequence(just like: motor move 2 setps then detector 2 seconds, and then and then).
I don't know how to implement these and I get in touch with epics for a little time. Could you please offer me an example which I could study or some other help. Any advice would be helpful.

p.s. I use CSS as the OPI.

Thank you
YX Liang
