Dear Mark,

Thanks. It was my fault because a typo in this environment variable.
The funny thing now is that imageJ opens a white canvas. As soon as I open the brightness dialogue the image is how fine.

Thanks.

Hi Zunbeltz,

Have you looked at the Troubleshooting section in the areaDetector Viewers documentation?

http://cars.uchicago.edu/software/epics/areaDetectorViewers.html#Troubleshooting

The EPICS areaDetector ImageJ viewer creates a diagnostic log window that probably has error messages in it.

I suspect that your problem is that you need to set the environment variable EPICS_CA_MAX_ARRAY_BYTES to a value that is at least as large as the biggest image you want to transport over Channel Access. In your screen shots the images are 1024x1024 16-bit. That means EPICS_CA_MAX_ARRAY_BYTES needs to be at least 2MB=20897152. I would recommend setting it to 10000000 in case you use some larger cameras as well.

The EPICS_CA_MAX_ARRAY_BYTES environment variable needs to be set on both the Windows machine running the EPICS IOC and on the client machine that is running ImageJ.

Mark

Subject: areaDetector and ADRoper; view files in imageJ

Dear all,

I got running areaDetector with a PI-MAX camera using the ADRoper driver.
In my setup the camera is controlled by the ioc server in a windows machine.
Use MEMD to acquire the photos from a remote linux machine.

I manage to connect imagej to the acquired image; but it is completely
black ( all the bytes 0).
The configuration used can be seen in the attached fiels.
I try to change the file format from SPE to TIFF (16 bit and 8 bit) but
I always get a 16 bit black image in imageJ.
(I have installed the SPE plugin).

Any idea where can I look?

Best regards,

Zunbeltz
