This is new work, I've used CaChannel for only about 8 months, adding it to pcaspy code which I have used for about 1.5 years.

I have not compared CaChannel and PyEpics. From from a first glance at http://cars9.uchicago.edu/software/python/pyepics3/  it also looks good.

Right, and since it's hard to update third-party libraries which already use the original Python threading to cothreads, that was a blocker for me.
