I am trying to use an scalcout record with a stream device protocol and I need to capture a string value in one of the string fields. I already have calcout records working to do an equivalent job to capture a numeric field. The protocol
makes use of the field name syntax to access the record letter fields.
The stream device online manual states scalcout records are allowed since v2-1 and work since 2-6-1 of calc module, the IOC is built for linux-x86 with streamDevice v2-5dls2, v3-1 of calc, with v2-8-1 of sscan and v1-8dls2-9 of genSub
under EPICS R3.14.11 and I have added dbd and library entries to the Makefile for these modules.
I copied my functioning calcout record (with DTYP stream), changed it to scalcout and edited it to call the protocol.
dbLoadRecords results in the following error message for the scalcout records:
Can't set "TS-VA-TURBO-03:GET:PARAM:DATATYPE4.DTYP" to "stream"
Examining the built dbd file I can find
device(calcout,CONSTANT,devCalcoutSoft,"Soft Channel")
device(calcout,CONSTANT,devCalcoutSoftCallback,"Async Soft Channel")
device(calcout,INST_IO,devcalcoutStream,"stream")
device(scalcout,CONSTANT,devsCalcoutSoft,"Soft Channel")
It appears that only Soft Channel DTYP is available to scalcout. Was it wrong of me to expect DTYP stream to be available or am I missing something from the IOC or module builds?
Is there a working example of scalcout and stream being used together I can look at?
Thanks,
Linda
