I have written an areaDetector driver that allows the Pixis and other new Princeton cameras to run on 64-bit Windows systems.
It is not base on PICam, but rather on automating the Princeton LightField program through the Microsoft Common Library Runtime. I took this approach before writing a PICam driver because we need to use the timing capabilities of the PiMAX
cameras. LightField has an excellent GUI for controlling the timing parameters, which I would have needed to reinvent if I used PICam. Furthermore, we need to drive a spectrometer attached to the camera. Using LightField this is all done through the same
API. PICam does not have spectrometer control, so one would need to use an additional library to control the spectrometer.
But it was my plan to also write a PICam driver, once the LightField one was complete.
The LightField driver is working and is contained in the trunk of the areaDetector Subversion repository at the APS.

We use a large number of cameras (including both Princeton cameras through PICam, and Photmetrics cameras through PVCam) - here at CCFE for spectroscopy applications.
PICam cameras were deployed last year.
My software for doing this is not EPICS–integrated because CCFE has, historically, not worked with EPICS.
However, CCFE is now taking a strong, strategic, interest in EPICS and my management would consider the possibility of some kind of collaborative effort, if that’s an option.

Yes I have just started looking at it. There are a couple of beamlines at APS that are interested in it as well.

Currently we control a Princeton Instruments PIXIS camera using areaDetector and the PVCam library on 32 bit windows.
In order to support the camera on native 64 bit windows its necessary to move to Princetons 64 bit PICam library. Has anyone already started to look at upgrading areaDetector to use PICam?
