You can't actually detect that, all you really know is that the PV is or

is not connected, which might be for many possible reasons.

Your record will automatically be put into LINK_ALARM state with an

INVALID severity if there was a problem with the link communications

mechanisms.

"PV in alarm".

If the link has an MS flag, it will cause your record to go into a

LINK_ALARM with the severity copied from the link target. You might

also want to look at the MSS and MSI flags which can change that

behaviour slightly; they were added in 3.14.11.
