Hi Kevin,
thanks for your detailed explanation of these issues. That in mind, I
was looking into the behavior of my system again and discovered another
problem regarding DMOV/DINP:
I need to be able to do the following types of writes to the soft motors:
1. write to soft motor 1
2. write to soft motor 2
3. open gate and write to soft motor 1 immediately followed by a write
to soft motor 2 (a fanout record triggers two output records to write to
both soft motors "at the same time")
I also need to be able to directly adjust the real motors:
4. write to real motor 1
5. write to real motor 2
When I implemented the gating logic I thought
realMotor1.DMOV && doneMovingGate_
would be enough. But this does not behave correctly in case 5. So I
changed it to
realMotor1.DMOV && realMotor2.DMOV && doneMovingGate_
as suggested by Tim
(http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/tech-talk/2008/msg00127.php). I think it
would be worth to compare my implementation with Tim's probably a bit
more thoroughly tested one.
Regards,
Martin
