In which layer(s) of OSI Model the Channel Access(CA) fits?
The TCP and UDP protocols are commonly mapped to layer 4 (Transport),
and Channel Access makes use of both of those protocols. Channel Access
itself implements aspects of both layers 5 (Session) and 6 (Presentation).

Layer 3 (Network) is better regarded as the IP Internet Protocol layer
provided by the operating system which sits under the TCP and UDP
protocols. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSI_model#Examples for a
useful table.

EPICS is a tool-kit; it provides various parts that can be mapped to
layers 5 through 7 depending on how and where you use them.
