The periodic scan initialization converts the first token of the menu item to seconds:
static void initPeriodic(void) epicsScanDouble(pmenu->papChoiceValue[i + SCAN_1ST_PERIODIC],
So you need to specify seconds, not minutes!
Just out of curiosity, how does epics knows that "60 seconds" is actually 60 * 1 second
In other words, what if I write in my dbd file choice(menuScan60_second,"1 minute") or choice(menuScan1_minute,"1 minute")
Why are those entries different from choice(menuScan60_second,"60 second") ?
