I realize that this is rather ancient and as far as I know we are the only group to use arcnet still, but if anyone can offer any suggestions I would appreciate it. The anode for the Time Projection Chamber at STAR uses an arcnet connection between the power supplies and the VME crate that runs the anode IOC. Lately, if there is a problem with this IOC such as a communication problem or the IOC requiring a re-start, the arcnet connection is lost to the anode. All of the voltages as seen by the IOC are zero and stay at zero (a default value, I believe, set by the IOC when the variables are initialized). Generally, rebooting the IOC several times will eventually restore arcnet communication, but it is very touchy. I'd like to figure out what exactly is going on if I can. If anyone has any experience with epics and arcnet, or can suggest a good place I can find some reading material, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks very much! James
