Yes, but...

(1) The script can be called more often than necessary:

> make -j   
./create_some_files.pl < /usr/share/dict/words
./create_some_files.pl < /usr/share/dict/words
./create_some_files.pl < /usr/share/dict/words

Imagine you have a list of 100 files...

(I was a bit surprised by this, in fact.)

(2) Getting the additional sequentializing dependencies right is harder and 
the result less obvious. Again, think of a generated list of many, many files 
(in our case the script creates 692 targets).
