Hello All,
Is tech-talker's IP and other network information monitored and
recorded in the mailing list server if he or she sends a message to
the board?
I used to work at one DOE Lab as a contractor and I know that all
computers in that Lab are monitored. Since ANL is one of the DOE Labs,
I guess all computers at ANL are being watched.
I tried to find any disclosure about the network privacy including
monitoring, tracking, recording, etc. on Tech-talk Mailing List:
http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/tech-talk/index.php. But there is no word
about this matter.
I guess someone (hacker or administrator, or government agency) could
track down and get our tech-talker's office address or even home
address if his or her IP and tech-talk activities are recorded in the
DOE-sponsored servers. Seems scary, right?
Happy Halloween :)
