Jiri,
The challenge you would find applying the ISA syntax is that it is missing many of the standard accelerator type devices. We have extended the ISA representation for Process and Instrumentation Drawings. We have your these several years now and have more detailed information beyond the paper that I can provide. Details can be found in the following paper:

We are just starting to look at moving to the use of a requirements management system that stores all the requirements in a database, provides traceability down into the epics source code with integrated change control starting back up at the requirements. This is a shift away from just writing requirements in word documents etc. We still have some work to do on decided how we integrate this with our current work processes. We have been using MKS Integrity (now called PCT Integrity) for some time; the requirements management module is something new.

Subject: ISA 5.1. CAD tool

Folks,
Can anybody recommend a proven(!) CAD software supporting
the "ISA 5.1 INSTRUMENTATION SYMBOLS AND IDENTIFICATION " standard ?
More generally, any advice, experience concerning using software design tools
for projecting and/or documenting a large distributed control system is highly appreciated.
I mean e.g. list of tools, their relevancy for partial tasks, ease of use , supplier, etc.
If somebody is familiar with an UML software used to capture and document control system requirements, algos, etc. ,
I would like to discuss the matter separately from the written above.
Thanks for any suggestion,
Jiri
