Do you get the messages like:
medmInit: Unable to load font widgetDM_60
Trying default (fixed) instead
when you start medm?
Then the problem you have may be solved by:
1) define environment variables like widgetDM_60 etc. (please refer the
manual for detail)
or
2) use "-displayFont scalable" argument when you start medm.
