Something strange has just occurred on one of our new linux soft IOC platforms.
The IOC application is running (on machine "b04lxioc02") and has a PV: epics> dbpr CAENA36XX:1:BulkVoltage ASG: DESC: Bulk supply voltage DISA: 0 DISP: 0 DISV: 1 NAME: CAENA36XX:1:BulkVoltage RVAL: 0 SEVR: NO_ALARM STAT: NO_ALARM SVAL: 0
But a client on the same machine (or on another machine on then net for that matter) fails to see this: enorum@b04lxioc02> caget CAENA36XX:1:BulkVoltage Read operation timed out: some PV data was not read. CAENA36XX:1:BulkVoltage 0 CA.Client.Exception............................................... Warning: "Virtual circuit disconnect" Context: "op=0, channel=CAENA36XX:1:BulkVoltage, type=DBR_TIME_DOUBLE, count=1, ctx="b04lxioc02.als.lbl.gov:42204"" Source File: ../getCopy.cpp line 92 Current Time: Wed Jul 18 2012 16:24:10.044127476 ..................................................................
And forcing a direct connection attempt doesn't help: enorum@b04lxioc02> EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST=localhost EPICS_CA_AUTO_ADDR_LIST=NO caget CAENA36XX:1:BulkVoltage Read operation timed out: some PV data was not read. CAENA36XX:1:BulkVoltage 0 CA.Client.Exception............................................... Warning: "Virtual circuit disconnect" Context: "op=0, channel=CAENA36XX:1:BulkVoltage, type=DBR_TIME_DOUBLE, count=1, ctx="localhost:42204"" Source File: ../getCopy.cpp line 92 Current Time: Wed Jul 18 2012 16:25:09.027521134 ..................................................................
