EDM successfully started-up after running the command:
xset fp+ /usr/share/X11/fonts/75dpi
written in http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/tech-talk/2008/msg00356.php
CentOS 6 doesn't have a xorg.conf file so I wasn't able to try the
solution written here: http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/tech-talk/2008/msg00357.php
