Subject: [CSS] work without EPICS base ?

Hello to all CSS users!

I am wondering can CSS work without EPICS base?
I reckon the only trouble could be is the carepeater program that searches for the remote IOC's beacons.
Does this mean I should install EPICS base on each computer client in order to use CSS on these clients? If so, can I just copy the EPICS base (for a specific platform) directory and assign the environmental variables (easy solution)? Or I must compile base using make (which is tedious)?

Another thing I've noticed - I have got base installed, but I can't see carepeater.exe in the task manager. Even when I'm running an IOC. I've read somewhere that one should either manually start it or automatically on boot. How would you recommend me to do it (both on linux and windows)?

Thank you very much.
