Hi all,

The Australian Synchrotron currently has a vacancy for a controls engineer, this is a contract position of up to 12 months. The role is required to support the development of the Imaging and Medical Beamline in the areas of; motion controls, optimisation of fast CT scanning, integration of multi-mode detector systems, equipment and patient protection systems. The Imaging and Medical Beamline is the flagship of the Australian Synchrotron. It is our most ambitious project because of the wide range of imaging and computed tomography (CT) modalities we will offer our users and the scale of the works required to deliver the largest x-ray beam in the world (4cm by 50cm) to a satellite station equipped to handle large animals and clinical patients.  Furthermore the facility is working towards the fastest implementations of clinical trials with live patients at any synchrotron facility worldwide and this brings significant technical challenges besides radiation safety, accurate dosimetry and all aspects of safe animal and patient handling.
