I think the option to open an OPI in a new window should be used wisely, because too many windows will use too much system resources and it is very hard to manage them.
Optionally, you can also open an OPI in a View and then you can "detach/undetach" the view by right clicking the view tab and select "detached". See /BOY Examples/4_Actions_1.opi

There is a BOY preference "No-Editing Mode". You can enable it to prevent opening an opi in opi editor.
