Hi Florian,

The EPICS EPID record may do what you want. You would read back the temperature sensors inside the detector (perhaps using a calc record to average them and discard outliers) and control the chillers. We use EPID for many temperature control applications, with extra logic in calc records to limit voltage, current, and power, etc. If you need to control more than 1 chiller you can use multiple EPID records, or fan the output of a single one.

Dear all,

we are developing a prototype for the EMC of the PANDA detector.
The whole prototype has to be cooled down to -25 degree Celsius.
We have two chillers which are controlled via serial line and several
temperature sensors
inside our detector.
Only the temperature of the internal reservoir of the chillers can be
set. (Not the used head/cooling power).

So we need a controlling routine which uses the data from our
temperature sensors and regulating our chillers.
We thought about using a fuzzy controller.

Does anyone has experience with this, or already implemented something
like this in EPICS?

Best regards,
Florian
