If you've built and run the example application you're pretty much on your way.
If you want to try to communicate with some new instrument, perhaps this
might be of use.

Hello EPICS folks,

I am new to epics and have been successful in building the EPICS base (EPICS_HOST_ARCH = cygwin-x86) as well as successfully build the example IOC and CA Host examples from Chapter 2 of the EPICS Applications Developer’s Guide.  As such,  I would now like to create some simple IOCs (with a simple database)  and CA clients “from scratch” using the documentation in Chapter 2 (Getting Started) as my guide.

Unfortunately, I am unable to understanding the contents of this chapter (as mentioned in the introduction to this chapter).   Is there any documentation, info, tutorials, or steps to follow with regards to creating IOCs and CA clients for beginners such as me?

Any help/info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Florencio Cid
