Hi Zen,
There are 2 areaDetector drivers for the CoolSnap HQ2.
The first is the Roper driver:
http://cars9.uchicago.edu/software/epics/RoperDoc.html
That driver uses the Roper/Princeton Instruments WinView program. The areaDetector driver controls WinView through the Microsoft COM interface. It only works with Windows. I use this driver extensively for collecting microtomography data.
The second is the PVCam driver:
http://cars9.uchicago.edu/software/epics/pvcamDoc.html
That driver uses the Roper/Photometrics PvCam library. It should work on both Windows and Linux. However, I have never used it on Linux. I know that Stuart Wilkins ([email protected]), Darron Chabot ([email protected]) and Mattheaw Pearson ([email protected]) have been working on trying to use PvCam with Linux. You may want to contact them to see if they have managed to get it working.
Mark

Subject: Area Detector
Hi Mark,
I was given a Photometrics Cool SNAP HQ2 camera. It comes with a PCI interface. Can this camera work with Area Detector on Linux RHEL5? If so, is there some documentation or an example on how to use Area Detector with this type of camera?
Any help with this is greatly appreciated,
Zen
