Subject: problem with VxWorks RTC (seems to be caused by tpmac Delta Tau communications, creates problems with autosave)

Hi EPICS folks,
I'm seeing a problem with my VxWorks RTC that appears to be caused by communications with a Delta Tau VME controller using the tpmac synApps module.

I turned off the records sending periodic queries to the Delta Tau board. When I send a DPRAM ASCII communications to the Delta Tau board and get a response, then my RTC seems to gets messed up. My evidence that the RTC is messed is that the VxWorks console function call ‘date’ returns with strange dates and doesn't change over time. The VxWorks console function ‘date’ works until the first time I send and get back the DPRAM communications. Has anybody else seen such a problem before? It seems to break autosave functionality as well.

I'm particularly interested in hearing if anybody else has seen RTC problems such as these due to Delta Tau communications or any other causes, because that might shed some light on what is causing my problem. I'm using the MV6100 PPC CPU VME board with VxWorks version 5.5.2.

Cheers,
Jay Steele
