Hi David,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, please, send me your driver.

Presently we have one USB2000 device and are planning to purchase two USB4000 units.  We are also looking to get the Omnidriver package.  I also started looking at the “USB4000 Data Sheet” which describes a command set, so I am thinking that it might be possible to write an asyn device driver using that information, bypassing the Omnidriver.  Have you considered that?  At this point I have only glanced at the note, so I am not sure yet what can be done.

Thanks again,

Zen

Hi Zenon,

I have developed epics support for the OceanOptics spectrometers here at the CLS and it is being used by a couple other labs.  So far I have used it with the USB4000 and the QE65000.  I can send you the driver I have put together, but it makes use of the Omnidriver package and you will have to buy that from OceanOptics.  The latest version of this driver that I have uses the Omnidriver 1-5, have you already bought this?

Here at SLAC we are using the Ocean Optics USB 4000 Spectrometer device.  Presently we only have their application for controlling it.  The users are rather unhappy with it and are asking for EPICS application.

Has anyone developed an EPICS driver for this device?

If so, could it be made available?

Thanks in advance,

Zen
