I think you are onto something.
The base-3.14.12 compiles if it is untared in the destination directry; however, it does NOT compile if it is untarred in different directory and then copied to the final directory (c:\epics\base-3.14.12).
I did not notice that problem before with base-3-14-11, so am not sure if it applies to that and prior versions of base. Is it indeed new to windows 7?
Where would I check the file rights /inheritance for windows 7. Can you elaborate (cacls or folder->properties ...)
