Please note that these are not proposals, they are ideas submitted by EPICS
users. I have no way to edit the text that people submit, all I can do is
activate or deactivate the individual ideas. Rather than try and do any of
that kind of filtering I have decided to put up all the suggestions (barring
spam if any gets submitted) and just let people vote down any that they think
are bad, stupid, silly or impossible.

The results are not going to be treated as Gospel by the core developers, and
I agree that the tool does have quite a lot of limitations, but it does seem
to be collecting useful ideas and information about what areas people want to
see development in. The fact that it integrates new ideas into the survey
immediately (after my approval) makes it much more interesting than a manually
prepared survey â I think the correct term is "crowd-sourcing."

Yes, if you want to influence the rank of a particular idea you do have to
vote quite a lot for it to come up. Maybe that's not terribly efficient, but
until someone else finds or develops a better tool this is what we have to
work with right now.

As Lewis said, you have to keep voting if you want to vote for or against a
particular idea. If you don't like the way that an idea is worded, rewrite it
and submit your rewrite, if it's better it will get voted above the original.

If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will
scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will
refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something
which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he
will accept it even on the slightest evidence. -- Bertrand Russell
