As a Keithley alternative I would recommend
http://ilo.elettra.trieste.it/uploads/2009_10_21_08_13_28.pdf. Actually
for the experiments where low currents from photodiodes are needed 
http://ilo.elettra.trieste.it/uploads/AH401-401B.pdf is probably a
better option because of charge intergration features that even a
Keithley DMM cannot do. Another iteresting fact is that there a 4
synchronous readouts, Keithley does have just one. Finally, the EPICS
intergration is straightforward with the stream driver because of their
TCP/IP control. Finally, AH401(501) deliver real-time data stream upon
request whereas Keithey can just buffer data. For this we plan to
develop waveform asyn support.
