That sounds right to me.
If you name the needed libraries in your doc, someone building from
source will be able to find out which packages to install, if it doesn't
work out-of-the-box of a server-type machine.
Any package-manager packaged version of areaDetector will find out these
dependencies when the package is built and make sure they are installed
as part of the areaDetector installation process, of course.
