I suggest you start with a list of hardware components you have to control and then look if EPICS provides drivers for all of them. For a single-ioc test stand you are relatively free in your choice of a control system because you won't see many of EPICS' advantages for a multi-ioc network. If 1000 samples per second is much or not depends on the size of a sample (1 ADC channel or several mega pixel detectors?) and of the number of seconds you run the measurement. (A rocket will burn out after a small number of second, right?) Dirk Akridge, Charles S.
