Scott,

I suggest you start with a list of hardware components you have to control and then look if EPICS provides drivers for all of them.

For a single-ioc test stand you are relatively free in your choice of a control system because you won't see many of EPICS' advantages for a multi-ioc network.

If 1000 samples per second is much or not depends on the size of a sample (1 ADC channel or several mega pixel detectors?) and of the number of seconds you run the measurement. (A rocket will burn out after a small number of second, right?)

I work for NASA and looking for examples of where EPICS is used for low-speed (1000 samples per sec) data acquisition of rocket engine stand or some related type control. We want to determine if EPICS is the right solution.

I don’t foresee (limited knowledge though) any reason EPICS would not work but it would be easier to make my case to the project if we had an example.

Any help is much appreciated.
Scott
