Hi:
In http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/tech-talk/2010/msg01457.php, Xihui reported
on an improvement in the BOY image viewer (Intensity Graph) memory usage.
That's now included in the current SNS products.
Other updates in there which will also be in products from other sites that
use the 'current' CSS sources:
* Data Browser: Value axes can be 'invisible' to increase plot area
* Probe: Fix for EPICS R3.14.11 alarm limit behavior
(were undefined limits are NaN)
* Channel Access: Updated to 2009/09/14 source snapshot of
JCA 2.3.3 and CAJ 1.1.6 from http://epics-jca.sourceforge.net
Update regarding CSS not running on 64 bit machines,
http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/tech-talk/2010/msg01352.php
This now hit us at the SNS in the form of Windows 7 users who had only
installed the 64 bit version of Java.
As reported in previous posts, it should be possible to install a 32 bit
version of Java and then all is OK. For example, on Windows 7 one can
install both this VM:
java.version=1.6.0_21
java.vm.name=Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM
... and this one:
java.version=1.5.0_17
java.vm.name=Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
With that in place, the 'usual' Win32 version of CSS will run OK,
automagically selecting the 32 bit JVM. Same is possible on Linux. The Mac
OS JVM has a "-d32" command line option to enforce 32 bit operation.
Nevertheless we now have Windows 7 users who only have the 64 bit JVM
installed, and for those we build a version of CSS with a native 64 bit
launcher.
Thanks,
Kay
