Hi Mark,
Just to confirm what Ulrik said. The Pixium detector uses Matrox Solios
Frame Grabber to capture the detector image via Camera Link interface.
The Solios Frame Grabber model is eCL/XCL-F. Currently the 'Pixium'
EPICS driver implemented at DIAMOND includes both Pixium RF4343 detector
control and Frame Grabber data acquisition together. It is possible for
the future version to separate these two hardware control into 2
separated EPICS drivers so they can be used independently.
What is important to know on Pixium Driver implementation is we do not
integrate/interface the EPICS Driver at Camera Link API level directly.
Our Pixium driver implementation uses the MIL (Matrox Image Library
lite) library to acquire images. The MIL Library
(http://www.matrox.com/imaging/en/products/software/) supports a number
of frame grabber cards so you can choose the one meets your
requirements.
Please let me know if you feel it would be useful to create a separate
EPICS driver for Frame Grabber only.
Cheers
Fajin

Hi Mark,
A colleague of mine here at Diamond, Fajin Yuan has developed an
areaDetector driver for the I12 beamline 'Pixium' detector. It uses a
camera link interface through a Matrox Solios frame grabber. This
areaDetector driver however is not a pure frame grabber driver as it
mixes use of the frame grabber DLL as well as the pixium detector DLL.
That is about as much as I know about this module. I am replying to this
thread only because Fajin is probably not on tech-talk. He is also
currently on holiday until late September. When he is back I will ask
him to contact you.
Cheers,
Ulrik

Subject: Camera Link drivers for areaDetector?
Folks,
Some people at SLAC are interested in controlling Camera Link cameras
through the EPICS areaDetector module. Has anyone else done this, and
if so for which Camera Link frame grabbers?
Thanks,
Mark
