Title: Workshops associated with the meeting

I wanted to write a short blurb on some of these workshops, as they are not so EPICS related. These workshops are more about large collaborative tools that can be used with or without EPICS.

The Open Hardware Development Workshop primarily exposes a hardware design that we have where a digital board provides shared memory, embedded event system, clean interface to analog circuits, and integration into a control system through a 1 GigE modbus port.

The GDA workshop presents the experiment control software in use at Diamond. This software is used to provide a control interface to beamline scientists.

IRMIS III - which is being extended from work done at APS and includes tools for documenting inventory, installation, wiring, and maintenance. It is also used to provide services such as ChannelFinder, Lattice, and Save/Compare/Restore.

Data Archiving - to work through the problems in existing tools and bring together those trying to develop a future platform.

Physics Applicaiton Platform - which is a workshop for adapting the version 4 interface to existing physics applications in order to provide a service rich environment for developing thin clients for commissioning and operations.

Control System Studio - a set of eclipse based operator tools that support different communication plug-ins to provide an integrated set of tools to the operator such as: synoptic display editors, historic/realtime plotting, elog, alarm management, correlation plots, etc.....

prior to the EPISC meeting, there is a half day timing workshop that discussed developments in the use and integration of the Micro Research Finland timing and event system.
