In general therefore I agree with Ralph that using serial consoles is still probably a better solution.

It also allows you to watch crates boot, and if you really hang them
up to reboot with a ^x (as in: BTDT - however, we do have networked
power switches too now)

However, if somebody types "exit" into the shell the easiest way to
restart it is to telnet in ... (got that one from Craig Walther).
