Title: RE: Making a case for cases

I came to SNS much later than the naming convention took place, so I’m not a big expert on it.

Generally diagnostics devices are named after magnets. So the name ”130” was inherited from the magnet.

If there are several diagnostics devices per one magnet we add literal indexing like

SCL_Diag:BLM29b and SCL_Diag:BLM29c.

I’m not sure how the magnets are named, but the “1” in “130” means the first DTL tank.

DTL_Diag:BLM130:MPSTripLimitRad
-------------------------------------
Is this the Beam Loss Monitor #30 in Cell #1
or
Beam Loss Monitor #0 in Cell #13
????
I would have preferred an instance on DTL
DTL1......:BLM30
or
DTL13.....:BLM0
