I've used smart PDUs from Servertech in the past ( http://www.servertech.com/products/smart-pdus/ ) and found them to be easy to use, versatile, and feature-rich.
For example, these units support input current monitoring and external temp & humidity probes configurable/accessible via SNMPv2, HTTP/S, and Telnet/SSH.  They are front-runners for use here.

As for devSNMP, I'll have to take a look at the releases posted by Nick.  The DESY download, while promising, needs work (scalability, v3 support, write).

We're thinking of using APC Ethernet-controllable rack power
distribution units.  One of the many ways you can talk to them is via
SNMP.

Has anyone used these or similar units?  And what is the status of EPICS
communicating via SNMP?
