Subject: RE: unsigned long record
value
The VAL field of a longin record is an
epicsInt32. That is the same size as an epicsUInt32. The difference
is just in the interpretation of the bit pattern. Do you need to represent
positive numbers greater than 2^31-1 (2147483647) in your application? If
not then there is no problem just using the epicsInt32 as is.
If you do, then depending on the application, you may
be able to just cast the epicsInt32 to epicsUInt32 to interpret the value as an
unsigned number.
Are those large enough to hold an unsigned value?
Thank you,
Patrick
