Subject: RE: How to force a record to generate a monitor

I believe that EDM only does a get with the DBR_CTRL_* dbr type, then
monitors using the DBR_STS_* type. This means that EDM doesn't receive
updates when the menu strings update. I get round this by using a "menu
mux" with its pv name pointing to the record in question. This widget
has a hook into the screen redraw function that causes the entire screen
to redraw when the record updates.
