The client
library, by default, broadcasts using one subnet limited broadcast address destination
for each of the network interfaces on the client’s host. One can examine
the network interfaces by typing “ifconfig –a”
(on Linux) or ipconfig (on windows). The CA Reference
Manual discusses how the network interfaces’ netmask
and IP address can be used to determine the network interfaces’ subnet
limited broadcast address.
And, as Andrew
mentions, the CA server (IOC) must be listening on one of these subnets, and one
can type “casr 2” to find out which one. Alternatively, one can use the “ifconfig –a” (on Linux), ipconfig
(on windows) , or ifShow (on vxWorks)
to find out which ones might be used by default. Also, “netstat –a” (windows and linux)
or inetstatShow (vxWorks) will
show all of the servers, and what address/port they listen on.
Finally, one can
use environment variables to manually configure the addresses that the client
library might send search messages to. The CA Reference Manual has the gruesome
details.

Hi,
When I use camonitor to check a PV, I get the following
error message:
[dt100@tsdaq1 ~]$ camonitor ACQ196_310_UPTIME

I have checked the IOC server is running properly. Then I
try to use caSnooper to trouble-shoot. Here is the result:

Questions:
1)
The IP address 192.168.1.1 and tsdaq1.gat.com of
the two requests are the address of the client computer. The computer has two
Ethernet port. Are the ip addresses all right?
2)
Should there be a valid request with the default
port number 5064 instead of the big number 44539?
