hello,

i'm running epics on a linux softioc and get the below error message after the
ioc sits for a while. the application was built with epics base 3.14.18.2 and
with the following synapps modules/versions (if it matters):

autosave - 4-2-1
asyn - 4-9
calc - 2-6-3
motor - 6-4-2
seq - 2-0-11
sscan - 2-5-6
std - 2-6

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
medmCAExceptionHandlerCb: Channel Access Exception:
  Channel Name: Unavailable
  Native Type: Unavailable
  Native Count: 0
  Access: Unavailable
  IOC: Unavailable
  Message: Virtual circuit disconnect
  Context: ioc26idbpol.cnm.aps.anl.gov:5064
  Requested Type: TYPENOTCONN
  Requested Count: 0
  Source File: ../cac.cpp
  Line number: 1142
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

basically, i ssh into the machine through exceed and launch the medm screens as well
as the ioc (interactively). if i just let it sit, then after a few hours (i've seen it fail
after ~2hrs and sometimes after 5hrs) the ioc returns to the linux shell prompt (bash)
and the above message appears (no other messages).

has anyone seen something similar, know the cause, and resolution? ideas?
any help is appreciated.

please advise,thanks in advance,
/david
