Hi Stewart,
shouldn't be a problem:
For the Channel Access protocol (that is between your IOCs) Jeff Hill
always makes sure its compatibility covers everything from the latest
EPICS version back to probably even late 3.12 (i.e. ~12 years back). We
try to make him drop support for the oldest versions once in a while,
with limited success.
Maybe two caveats:
The native Java versions of the CA libraries have a smaller
compatibility span.
Naturally, for using newer features (e.g. large array support) both
sides must be new enough to support it.
Cheers,
Ralph

I would like to ask a question about compatibility between IOC targets
running different versions of EPICS. Say I have a VME/vxWorks IOC
running EPICS version 3.13.10 and a Linux IOC running EPICS version
3.14.10. Would they be able to interface with each other? Could one IOC
read and write to EPICS records in the other IOC's database and vice
versa?
Best Regards,
Stewart
