Following up, there is also a video presentation about MEDM available online as part of the "Getting Started with EPICS" series:

MEDM has a manual that is available online. Google search for "EPICS MEDM manual" shows these two URLs as the first two suggestions:

*    http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/extensions/medm/index.php
* http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/EpicsDocumentation/ExtensionsManuals/MEDM/MEDM.html

The second URL is the manual and the first URL provides other related information about MEDM.

However, the MEDM manual does not provide an example that says :

1: configure your IOC with these databases and process variables and hardware and driver support and ...
   2: use this MEDM (.adl) file)
   3. follow these steps ...

Step 1 is out of scope with the MEDM application. Either you will need to learn how to start an EPICS IOC or you already have a working IOC from which you wish to display EPICS process variables (PVs). The MEDM manual assumes you already have some working knowledge of your system, at least to the extent that you know the names of your PVs and what fields are provided.

Can you identify your situation with some more details? It's not clear whether you need technical assistance with a problem related specifically to the use of MEDM or that perhaps you need beginner's instruction about EPICS.

Dear sir/madam,

I have got a livepics cd which can be used for developing applications . I am having the EPICS package on linux(slax) platform(LivEPICS USB and CD Bootable - Slax 6.0 based repository). My intention is to develop a simple GUI application using MEDM extension. When i tried some procedures given in EPICS site, i could do everything mentioned there. In edit mode i used some controls , but in execute mode ,it is making some problems. I could not execute it properly. It is not getting executed. Please suggest me to overcome my problem. Can you send me some simple examples to run and explore in EPICS.Please send me some examples that uses MEDM.

I have followed many procedures given at EPICS sites, But i could not use it very effcetively. Please help me to develop a simple GUI based application.

 Awaiting for your response.
