Bob,

We use the Newport XPS. It does coordinated motion of up to 8 axes, with multi-kHz closed loop. We routinely do coordinated motion of 6 axes on our diffractometers. During the motion it outputs detector trigger pulses and records the actual encoder positions when each pulse is output.

We are working with Nick Rees and Matt Pearson from Diamond to come up with a standard API for such coordinated motion within the asyn motor framework.

Mark
