I have run into that before but that is not the problem. I have the mouse hovering over the text field in question and nothing is entered.

I was reading up on a previous thread on tech talk where my exact problem was reported but the fix does not help my situation.

http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/tech-talk/2007/msg01116.php

I also did a search to see if the issue was related specifically to cygwin and it appears to be so. I believe it has to do with the environment variable XKEYSYMDB. If it is set, I cannot use xterm or medm.

Anyone have any other thoughts? This is a fresh install of cygwin and I copied the XKeySymDB file from this cygwin install to the epics dir and pointed the environment variable at that.

Thanks.

-Richard

Not sure if this is your issue but:
On medm when you poke inside a text entry field, the cursor must remain
inside the text entry field until you type in your text and hit the
enter key.
