Hi, Mark.

I've seen similar behavior on Mac OS X running a soft IOC and MEDM on
the same computer with env vars EPICS_CA_AUTO_ADDR_LIST=NO and
EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST=127.0.0.1.

* Test 1
  Stop IOC, wait 10 seconds, restart
  Time for MEDM to reconnect: less than 10 sec

* Test 2
  Stop IOC, wait 9 minutes, restart
  Time for MEDM to reconnect: 2 min 45 sec

Environment:

* Processor: 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo
* Memory: 2 GB
* OS: Mac OS X 10.5.6
* EPICS 3.14.10 (+ Known Problems patches)
* MEDM 3.1.3
* synApps CVS nightly snapshot from approx. 2009-01-20
