I would like to announce successful port of EPICS version 3.14.9 to PowerPMAC (linux-ppc). PowerPMAC is the new Delta Tau motor controller running with embedded Linux (PowerPC CPU) with a real-time micro-kernel. Here is the link to the PowerPMAC description (Introduction to Power PMAC, http://www.deltatau.com/common/support/pressreleases/Introducing_the_Power_PMAC.pdf) During my visit at Delta Tau, together with Farooq and Henry Bausley from Delta Tau, we were able to complete all needed system software (compilers, text utilities, system libraries) on a PowerPMAC memory resources to compile EPICS and a minimal version of the SBCserver - sequencer application used at our beamlines (19ID and 19BM at APS) as a middle-ware between EPICS and other beamline software and text socket applications and GUI's. We were able to compile: epics base 3.14.9 seq - 2.0.11 sscan 2.5.3 genSub 1-6a asyn 4-6 To compile vxi11 rpc (in asyn/asyn), I needed to apply RTEMS rules, without rpcgen. Curently, I am working on porting PMAC asyn driver to PowerPMAC platform, using libppmac. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact me, Henry or Farooq.
