Hi Nick, Matthew, Mark,

Thanks for the quick reply. I think the TPMAC2 driver will do. I will try it. It it my first PMAC device (or UMAC? What is the difference?)

At the moment, the system is controlled by 3rd party software running on a Windows PC. Apparently it uses a DLL provided by DeltaTau. The ethernet cable is connected to a board labeled "DELTA TAU cPCI TURBO PMAC2 CPU". It also has a USB port (unused) and a serial port (unused).

Apart from some servo and stepper motor controllers, there seems to be other I/O in the same crate, analog and digital. I have to dig through a huge pile of docs and code before I know what it actually is and what the original program is doing with it.

Dirk,

Which Delta Tau UMAC drivers are you using? The driver on the GSECARS
site http://www.gmca.aps.anl.gov/TPMAC2/ was initially developed for a
UMAC ethernet interface. It is an interpose interface for AsynIPPort.

Hi all,

Is there a driver for the DeltaTau UMAC ethernet interface?

I could only find drivers for VME based or PCI based PMAC controllers but not for controllers (Turbo PMAC 2 CPU) connected via ethernet or USB. The protocol seems to be the same as for other DeltaTau controller types, only the data transfer layer is different (uses UDP). A typical case for asynOctet, I think.
