Kirby, Steve,
I would guess this is a feature in the locpv scheme. I am guessing that
all instances are not declared in an identical manner.
One must always do something like LOCPV\pv=d:0 in every instance else
the first instance determines the type which
may not be what you want. So check this first and let me know. It is of
course, entirely possible that some other bug
is causing your problem.

Wow, quite a discovery! This is a real bug in EDM. Please send the
two .edl files to John Sinclair so he can fix it. You might also post
a warning on tech-talk [[email protected]] so others can work
around the problem. At least all you work is not lost...
Steve,
Examining the text of a stripped down instrument drawing, I
discovered
that the visibility works as long as the message button defining the
local
PV occurs before its use in the ASCII edl file. I moved all the message
buttons up to the top, and the instrument drawing started working again.
Then I tried to change the layering of some of the objects that use the
local PV. That caused edm to shuffle the message buttons down in the
ASCII file.
