Subject: ASYN connection concerns

I seem to have developed what may be a problem with ASYN and the
'autoconnect' option.

I have a site where I am communicating with remote hardware using a IP
to serial converter. The site is connected to a different power grid
and may, at times, loose power.

My IOC is connecting with that site using drvAsynIPPortConfigure, with
the auto-connect option.

When I start the IOC running, if power is off to the remote site,
things time out and I retry just as I should. When the remote site
comes up, things connect properly, and everything works fine.

Things remain fine until the remote site power fails, at which time,
the IOC 'waits forever'. When the remote site power is restored and the
remote site restarts the IOC does not continue, but will wait for a good
hour or two before it faults, and will then restart.

My question is: If I have auto-connect enabled, does Asyn open a
connection when the IOC initially issues a request for the remote, and
then maintain that same connection indefinitely, or does it build up and
shut down a connection each time a request is generated?

Timeouts are fairly long on this connection, as it goes through a lot
to get to the endpoint.
